VIEWPOINT

Dallas Snider, a speaker, radio host and personal coach, offers this advice to her clients:  “Celebrate success daily. Each day, write down the top three things you must do. You might have other items on your list; however, be sure that you do the top three things.  If you will focus on three items each day, five days a week, 52 weeks a year, you will have small successes each day that can help you build a sense of accomplishment. That's 780 action items. Talk about productive!”

-------------------

In addition to reflecting on positive blessings, we might be thankful for some improvements.  Here’s a list by G. Wyatt Shaw. He suggested, be thankful you don’t:

·  Have to live the remainder of your life without electricity.

·  Have to live in a dwelling built over a dormant volcano.

·  Have to choose between the worship of pagan gods or being executed.

·  Have to travel everywhere in a horse and buggy conveyance.

·  Have to pay $7 per minute to talk long distance over the phone.

·  Have to grow all the food you eat and spin all the cloth for clothing.

·  Have to be as strong as Samson to get an outside job.

I look forward to seeing you Sunday with a Bible, a smile, and a positive word!                                  RA

“To Help”

One of the Most Beautiful Verbs!

Georgia AGAPE's Thanksgiving Appeal- November 21st

By Doug Mead, AGAPE Executive Director

Someone has made the statement, “After the verb ‘to love,’ the next most beautiful verb in the world is ‘to help.’”  Some of the reasons for this are that helping brings out the best in people and can make a world of difference.  Helping benefits both the giver and the receiver!  To help is really part of the beauty we see as we love others.

“To help” is often about those in a stronger, more advantaged position helping those in a weaker, more disadvantaged position.  The reality is, we all have experienced being in the weaker, vulnerable position.  As we remember those times, we find that our hearts are softened and gratitude becomes a motivating influence.

There are many who are vulnerable and dependent on the help of others. I put children in need of foster and adoptive homes in that category. Helping children through these services is about meeting immediate needs and providing hope for their tomorrows.  Through AGAPE, we are able to reach out to children and their families and serve them in the best ways possible.  This is not easy work, but it is work that needs to be done.

This is the time of year when we ask you to join our efforts by financially giving to AGAPE through our annual Thanksgiving Appeal.  We all know these continue to be tight financial times for many.  The reality is, many will not be able to give as much as in years past.  That is why we desperately need those who can to give more this year.  Hopefully, this will help make up the difference.  There is strength in numbers!

As you give to AGAPE, remember that it is only by doing this work together that we can be successful.  Thanks for loving and helping!

CHANGE FOR CHILDREN

The Mount Dora Children’s Home has invited us to participate in a “Change for Children” campaign.  -

The goal is simple:  Give the children a better life.

Each family is invited to take home as many coin banks as you wish and fill them with spare change for the next three months.

We’ll have a “coin counting day” sometime in January.

Your generosity will give the children at Mount Dora haircuts, allowances, personal items, new clothes, spring trips, and many other daily needs.

Feel free to put the coin banks in business places or offices as well.  You may have other creative ideas to use them.
