VIEWPOINT
Two
men were walking through a field one day when they spotted an
enraged bull. Instantly they darted toward the nearest fence.
The storming bull followed in hot pursuit, and it was soon
apparent they wouldn't make it.
Terrified, the one shouted to the other, “Put up a prayer,
John. We're in for it!”
John
answered, “I can't. I've never made a public prayer in my life.”
“But you must!” implored his companion. “The bull is catching
up to us.”
“All
right,” panted John, “I'll say the only prayer I know, the one
my father used to repeat at the table: ‘O Lord, for what we are
about to receive, make us truly thankful.’”
--------------
Give thanks to the
Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever” (Psalm 107:1).
--------------
In
1992, Erma Bombeck wrote, “An estimated 1.5 million people are
living today after bouts with breast cancer.
Every time I forget to feel grateful to be among them, I hear
the voice of an eight-year-old named Christina, who had cancer of
the nervous system. When asked what she wanted for her birthday, she
thought long and hard and finally said, ‘I don't know. I
have two sticker books and a Cabbage Patch doll. I have
everything!’ The kid
is right.”
When
David was in deep trouble, he called out to the Lord for help (Psalm
28:1, 2). Afterward, he
remembered to give God thanks for delivering him. “Praise
be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy” (Psalm 28:6)
I look forward to
seeing you Sunday with a Bible, a smile, and a word of thanksgiving!

Be Thankful
Be
thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be
thankful when you don’t know something, for it gives you’re the
opportunity to learn.
Be
thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be
thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities
for improvement.
Be
thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength
and character.
Be
thankful for your mistakes. They
will teach you valuable lessons.
Be
thankful when you are tired and weary, because it means you have
made an effort.
It’s
easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also
thankful for the setbacks. Gratitude
can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they can
become your blessings
