VIEWPOINT

Clement Stone said, “There is a little difference in people, but that little difference makes a big difference.  The little difference is attitude.  The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.”

That’s true in every avenue of life!  People who approach their lives with a positive attitude accomplish much more, are happier in the process and make the biggest difference.

Charles Swindoll made this well known comment:  “Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.  It will make or break a company, a church or a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past; we cannot change the inevitable.  The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.  We are in charge of our attitudes.”

We want our lives to be defined by good attitudes, don’t we?  I never hear anyone say, “I should have exhibited a poorer attitude!” Instead we want to look back at our performance and see that we attacked every job with enthusiasm and commitment.  Holiness, which God wants from us, begins with a good attitude.

That may be why the Scripture emphasizes this:  Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe” (Philippians 2:14, 15).

------------------

An eccentric philosophy professor gave a one question final exam after a semester dealing with a broad range of topics.

The class was already seated and ready to go when the professor picked up his chair, plopped it on his desk and wrote on the board:  “Using everything we have learned this semester, prove that this chair does not exist.”

Fingers flew, erasers erased, notebooks were filled in furious fashion.  Some students wrote over 30 pages in one hour attempting to refute the existence of the chair.  One member of the class however, was up and finished in less than a minute.

When the grades were posted, the student who finished in one minute was the only student to earn an “A.”

The rest of the group wondered how he could have gotten an A when he had barely written anything at all.

What did he write?  Just this:

“What chair?”

I look forward to seeing you Sunday with a Bible, a smile and a positive word!      RA

This Day

“O Lord, this day is your gift to me; what I do with this day is a gift back to you.  As I begin this day I center myself on you.  Let no ungenerous thought be in my mind today, no intent that has bitterness in it, no purpose that has harm in it, not only toward others but toward myself.  To each one I meet this day, let me be quick to speak a grateful word, willing to hear a painful word, eager to believe the best and forgive the worst.  Touch me, O God, with the sweet simplicity of this fresh new day, and may gentleness and hope fill my heart”

The Peachtree City church has a mission to China caring for orphans and abandoned children.  Many children are brought to the U.S. for surgeries which cannot be completed in China.  Delta/Northwest Airlines allows Sky Miles to be collected into an account to used for this work.

Mission leaders are asking all Christians who have miles and do not plan to use them to donate them to the mission account.  A form to be used is available in the church office.
