Dear
Brothers and Sister at Cedar Grove Yesterday
additional food and clothing was brought from Cedar Grove. Thank you so
much! This
weekend 92 young professionals from the Harpeth Hills Church in
Brentwood, TN are coming to AIM to do 4 hours of service work as a part
of a class trip to Atlanta. They are arriving at a wonderful time and
will be able to provide manpower for several service projects around the
building. Also, during the
week of March 16 to 22 there will be 11 students from David Lipscomb
staying at the AIM building over spring break. The group is led by a
past AIM summer intern. Lakewood
is growing with Alfred Donald putting in great effort in structuring the
congregation for growth. He
is developing leadership, improving the children's classes, along with
seeking to better connect the members during worship and Bible class.
Tim Sells is actually providing leadership in these areas as
well. Tim teaches, preaches
occasionally, and is helping to introduce the use of power point within
the worship service. The
Tuesday Ladies Bible Class continues with around 12 ladies in weekly
attendance. We are studying
I Corinthians. It has been a real encouragement for the ladies to share
cards and letters from the Cedar Grove ladies. Hopefully, someday they
might be able to fellowship together; I know that would be good for our
ladies. The
Youth Bible study on Tuesday is going through adjustments because the
government is closing down many of the public housing developments in
the area. Our attendance
used to number around 40 to 45 and recently is running 16 to 20.
We are slowly finding where many of the young people moved and
some are close enough to reroute our bus pickup for them.
The two “service groups” will be doing door knocking to
rebuild the numbers. We
continue to feed between 50 and 65 families and homeless persons each
Wednesday. It is a blessing
to have churches like Cedar Grove helping to stock our food pantry
because it is empty each Wednesday evening. Living
Free (which is our 12 step support group on Monday nights) is going
well. AIM is also in the process of beginning "My Father's
House" which will begin with the purchase of a transitional house
for men hopefully in 2008 with a house for women in 2009. We have
several situations where housing is needed and the Board of AIM
determined My Father's House needs to operate separately primarily for
liability reasons. AIM
continually needs your prayer support. Please pray God to bless AIM with
9 new church partners of $100 per week. Please pray for renewal for the
spiritual batteries of our many volunteers.
Please prayer for 27 recent converts, many of whom have overcome
the hurdles of crack addiction and prostitution.
Strangely, they are dealing with issues which they escaped from
actually feeling for many years, so they now feel overwhelmed to begin
dealing with the many dysfunctions, hurts, and pains which drove them to
their addictions in the past. We are teaching them to respond in Christ
after years of reacting like the world.
Thank
you for your interest and prayers. Your
Brother and Friend, Bo

EGG HUNT
Everyone
is invited to join us for an egg hunt and cookout on Saturday, March 22 at 11:30
a.m. at the church building. We will
need each family to donate at least one dozen plastic eggs filled with candy.
Please bring the eggs to church no later than Sunday, March 16.
There is a sign-up list for food that will be needed for the cookout on
the Involvement Team Bulletin Board. Please
sign up also to let us know if you will be attending and how many people will be
in your group. If you sign up to
bring hamburgers or hot dogs, please bring these to the church by Friday, March
21. We will need volunteers to cook
and to hide the eggs.
If
you have any questions, please contact Jeri Maddox.
