VIEWPOINT

Mother's love is peace. It need not be acquired, it need not be
  deserved” (Erich Fromm, psychologist).

“A mother takes twenty years to make a man of her boy, and
another woman makes a fool of him in twenty minutes” (Robert Frost).

“A mother is not a person to lean on, but a person to make leaning
   unnecessary”  (Dorothy Canfield Fisher).

“Mother is the bank where we deposit all our hurts and worries.”

-----------

Have you heard the story about the guy who calls his mom and asks
  how she's doing.

  She says, “I'm weak.”

  “Why are you weak?”

She says, “Because I haven't eaten in 32 days.”

“Mom, why haven't you eaten in 32 days?”

She says, “Because I didn't want my mouth to be full of food in case you
  should call.”

This list is called “Murphy’s Laws for Mothers”:

1.  The tennis shoes you must replace today will go on sale next week.

2.  Leak proof thermoses — will.

3.  The chances of a piece of bread falling with the grape jelly side down is directly proportional to the cost of the carpet.

4.  The garbage truck will be two doors past your house when the argument over whose day it is to take out the trash ends.

5.  The shirt your child must wear today will be the only one that needs to be washed or mended.

6.  Gym clothes left at school in lockers mildew at a faster rate than other clothing.

7.  The item your child lost, and must have for school within the next ten seconds, will be found in the last place you look.

8.  Sick children recover miraculously when the pediatrician enters the treatment room.

9.     Refrigerated items, used daily, will gravitate toward the back of the refrigerator.

10. Your chances of being seen by someone you know dramatically increase if you drive your child to school in your robe and curlers.

I look forward to seeing you Sunday with a Bible, a smile

and a positive word!

His Mother and Mine

“Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his

mother and mine” (Rom. 16:13).

In this fascinating verse, the apostle seems to be saying, “
I salute Rufus and his mother, who is like a mother to me.”
This raises some interesting speculation.  When and
where did Paul meet Rufus’ mother?  Did she nurse
him through some serious illness?  Did she receive him
into her home for an extended stay during his missionary
journeys?  How did this woman and Paul form such a close
bond that he refers to her fondly as being like his mother?

No one knows for sure who this remarkable woman was
who served as a mother figure for the great Paul. But
it really makes no difference, because what he writes
emphasizes the importance of mothers regardless of the
culture or time frame.

Our mothers deserve recognition and appreciation. So
let’s join Paul and salute our mothers.

·           Mothers should be saluted for their tenacious love.

·           Mothers should be saluted for the tremendous impact they
 h have.

Mothers should be saluted because where they are, that is where

   home is.
