Mission Updates

Georgia Outreach

Our hearts were filled with sorrow when the news of the passing of veteran preacher Ralph Henley reached us.  While Ralph’s tireless efforts in Georgia mission fields did not coincide with the work of Georgia Outreach, both efforts had the same ultimate goals:  thriving churches throughout the state.

We congratulate the Highland church in Dalton, Georgia whose dauntless efforts have launched at long last a 24 hour Gospel Broadcast.  We are greatly encouraged that millions will now hear the gospel who, without Gospel Broadcast Network, would never hear the saving message. Truth for the World, also emanating from a Georgia Congregation, will doubtless work hand and glove with this new network.

Pacific Islands

SENIOR CITIZENS BEING WORKERS FOR JESUS IN THE PACIFIC ISLANDS:  We are so blessed to have many who join us in the work of the Lord in the Pacific Islands.  Thank God for many senior citizens who think positively, and continue to serve the Lord in their older years when able.  When we think of some who join us in the work of the Lord in the Pacific Islands, we think of Psalm 92:14, “They shall bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing.”   I think of Christians like Bill and Vida Benton.  Bill and Vida are in their early eighties and are still active in soul-winning for Jesus in the States and in the Pacific Islands.

Our work schedule for 2006 will be a busy one that will take our co-workers and us into many Pacific Islands.  In January, I will be in Ba and Nadi, Fiji.  In February, I will be in Majuro, Marshall Islands and Tarawa, Kiribati.  In February and March, we will be in Saipan, Northern Marianna Islands.  In March, we will be in Koror, Palua, and we will also have work going on in Suva, Fiji and Majuro, Marshall Islands.  In April we will have work going on in Moen, Chuuk.  In May, we will be in Ambac, Vanuatu.  In May and June, we will be in American Samoa.  In June and July, we will be in Suva, Delaidamanu, Naila, Naulu, Nasinu, and Raiwaqa, Fiji.

We are thankful for all of you who supply what we need.  We are thankful to the Lord for many “open doors of opportunity” in the Pacific Islands to us as we labor for the Master.

Our most significant progress that we made in 2005 was in the level of individual involvement. We have more people doing more things than ever before, and the things they are doing are giving the church good exposure and having a beneficial effect.  Here are a few of the highlights:  We began hosting weekly AA meetings at the church building.  Before the meetings, several of our members are hosting a spaghetti dinner, which allows quite a bit of interaction.  Our ladies have begun meeting together for fellowship once a month with a different person  hosting the meeting each month.  They are becoming sisters and spiritual supports for one another.  Last year we expanded our “tape ministry” and began our own radio ministry, “A Sunday Walk with the Word.”  My sermons are aired to an estimated listening audience of 12,500 each Sunday.  We appreciate your participation in all of this.  Please keep these efforts in your prayers.  May God bless you all.

21st Century Global Missions

The board of directors recently gave approval for establishing a Bible College in Managua, Nicaragua.  A work fund for Nicaragua has been set up, and we are now able to receive funds for this work.  A trip is being planned for early February of 2006.

We believe the timing is very good.  Many brethren have expressed desire for us to establish a four-year, single purpose school in this country.  We thank all of those brethren for voicing encouragement, praying for, and committing to work with us in training preachers and teachers in their language, culture and country.  To God be the glory.
